Florida motorists will now be able to help in the fight against terrorism by purchasing the new “United We Stand” license plate that was approved today by the governor’s cabinet. Florida was the first state in the nation to pass legislation authorizing the historic new “United We Stand” license plate, the proceeds from which will benefit the Rewards for Justice Fund and Florida’s airport security programs. The Fund is a charity formed shortly after the tragic events of September 11th that allows ordinary citizens to contribute directly to one of America’s most effective anti-terrorist weapons, the Rewards for Justice Program. This Program, run by the U.S. Department of State, uses reward payments to turn terrorist supporters into terrorist informants.
State Sen. Buddy Dyer, who co-sponsored the bill that created the “United We Stand” plate, urged all Florida residents to sign up for the specialty plate, by logging onto www.rewardsfund.us.
"No Floridian is happy that Atta and his crew used our state as a staging ground for their cowardly acts," said Dyer, (D-Orlando). "I am proud that Florida was the first state to pass United We Stand license plate legislation with the proceeds from the sale of these plates going to a fund that is dedicated to apprehending these cowards wherever they might be hiding in the World.”
"The Legislature’s passage of this plate, and the Cabinet’s approval today means every Floridian can now play a personal role in the fight against terrorism, as the dollars raised from the sale of these plates will fund rewards for information about terrorists, and safer Florida airports, a backbone of our economic well being."
The Fund is a non-profit charity formed in the days after the September 11 tragedies. More than 500 charities have been created since that time but the Rewards for Justice Fund remains the only such organization focused solely on providing a way for citizens to participate directly in the war on terrorism and help prevent future attacks.
Created by Scott Case, a co-founder of priceline.com, and Joe Rutledge, a leader in marketing and communications, the Rewards for Justice Fund is the perfect outlet for ordinary citizens to contribute to the United States war on terrorism. The Fund operates in a partnership with the U.S. State Department. Since its creation in 1984, the program has saved thousands of lives through the innovative and highly effective use of reward payments for terrorist information. The Rewards for Justice Program has captured terrorists andthwarted their evil plans around the world.
Case, who addressed the cabinet, commended Florida’s legislators, cabinet members and Governor, saying, “By pioneering the ‘United We Stand’ license plate, Florida has been a beacon for other states. Four other states have already followed Florida’s lead, including New Jersey, Connecticut, Virginia and South Carolina, which makes the Rewards for Justice ‘United We Stand’ license plate program the most successful specialty license plate effort in the nation. And, we’re just beginning.”
“We are particularly proud of the leadership and hard work provided by Senator Buddy Dyer,” said Case. “Because of his efforts and others’, hundreds of patriots in this state have already signed up for this historic license plate.’’ Case said. “Based on the feedback and excitement generated in the past few months, we’re confident thousands of Florida drivers will soon join them in helping prevent future attacks on our nation.”
