About The Rewards for Justice Fund
"This fund will allow every American to take part in the fight against terrorism."
Secretary of State Colin Powell
December 13, 2001, Washington, D.C.
The Rewards for Justice Fund was created within days of last year's brutal attacks on America. It's unique mission: to provide individual Americans with a way to personally and consequentially contribute directly to the war against terrorism.
The Fund is the first and only organization to be officially authorized by the U.S. Department of State to enlist individual citizens in efforts aimed squarely at assuring America's success in fighting terrorism.
The Fund's most innovative and significant fund raising program is its national "United We Stand" license plate program. In less than a year, the Fund has encouraged state Legislatures around the Nation to enact legislation authorizing the creation of patriotic new "United We Stand" license plates. The Proceeds of these specialty license plates go directly to fighting terrorism.
To date, this historic legislation has been adopted in six states, making the "United We Stand" license plate franchise the most extensive individual license plate program in the Nation. The result? Millions of Americans will be able to simultaneously display their love of country and help fight terrorism.
The Rewards for Justice Fund's founders are Scott Case, one of the founders of priceline.com, and Joe Rutledge, a nationally recognized marketing and communications leader. Case and Rutledge have vowed that every public dollar the Fund raises, including 100% of the dollars received by the Fund as a result of its "United We Stand" license plate program, will be provided to the U.S. State Department for its leading anti-terrorist initiative, the Rewards for Justice Program.
This innovative Program has saved thousands of lives since its creation by Congress in 1984, by using reward money to entice informants into revealing terrorist plans and hiding places. Among the violent terrorists who have been caught thanks to information provided to this worldwide anti-terrorist program is Ramzi Yousef, who is currently behind bars for his role as the mastermind of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.
The Rewards for Justice Fund's mission is unique. Its goals are shared by all Americans. Its success reflects the drive and determination of every citizen who wants to protect our Nation and who wants to help prevent future acts of terrorism.
